Which do you think would be the better choice?

    1) Combination of Kaspersky antivirus & Comodo Firewall or
    2) Kaspersky Internet Security

What I'm looking for is something that offers the 3 basic protections: AV, AS & firewall. I also know that KAV includes antispyware protection, therefore I didn't put any in choice 1.

I know both are excellent choices, but I want to hear different opinions. Please vote on your choice.

    Thanks,
    Silent:blink:

Yes, but KAV+Comodo free is cheaper and offers almost the same security level

According to this thread at the Kaspersky forums:
    http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=24348

MP1 is out, will probably be official on Monday 11/13/06

MP1 is not without some issues however - The thread has some discussion of the issues that is not fixed with the Release

Used KAV 6 with Comodo, didnt have any trouble with the two together but I just don't like the firewall.
Currently using the the trial version of KIS 6 and after a few days I'm already wondering why I didn't try it sooner.

KIS 6 fails the Browser test at pcflank.com, it reports that information can be sent out via your browser, Outpost and ZoneAlarm both block this Referer test

Was ZA & Outpost in the OP's question?

You can pass this "test" by setting iexplore.exe with run as child in: Proactive defense >> Application integrity control.

I beta tested KIS 2006 on a virtual machine for many months. I chose KAV though for my host machine. I didn't like Anti Hacker plus I don't care much for Suites as I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket. A layered defense is always the best and the most prudent approach I think.

I tried Comodo with KAV and they didn't get along but I also use ProcessGuard so that may have affected them. It seems that Comodo and KAV get along fine for some users but not for others from comments I've read here and elsewhere. So, just because I had problems with them together certainly doesn't mean you would.

I would vote against ANY suite. I dislike the entire concept of suites. Bad idea I think and I find it alarming that the trend it toward bloated suites where the user is at the mercy of that application alone for their protection. Makes no sense to me. I'd use KAV, BoClean and PG and, of course, never give up Spybot and Spyware Blaster. Since I am behind a router I don't need a software firewall but if I wanted one I would not want it to be a part of my AV. I would want a totally separate application. I have a hardware firewall on my mobo but I don't use it either.

i don't think you can compare a AV+FW combo with a full fledged security suite..
Anyhow i think since there is very little to think about in this one,i go for kis

The only thing added to KIS that isn't in KAV is the firewall. So, I think you can compare them. You want KIS if you want a not very good software firewall. Otherwise, KAV has every thing.

How about anti-spy / anti-spam modules that are only in KIS?

Again some biased info you seem to be giving...
