Kaspersky 5 not working in safe mode?

    I wanted to scan my hard drive (Windows XP installed) with Kaspersky 5 in safe mode but every time i try i get the message "Error while starting the service part of Kaspersky. It is recommended to reinstall the program." The same happens when i right click on a file and choose to scan it in safe mode again. Does this mean that i am not able to scan files in safe mode?
