The following new features and improvements are introduced in Kaspersky Internet Security:
    • New mechanism for installing the application extension for the Mozilla Firefox browser.
    • Improved scenario for linking the application’s activation code to a My Kaspersky account: added the connection to My Kaspersky from Support and Licensing windows.
    • The My Kaspersky account registration form now has a step for choosing the user's region. The region is determined automatically based on the operating system settings or the application localization language.
    • Improved scenario for connecting to a My Kaspersky account: the application independently checks if there is a My Kaspersky account associated with the email address and prompts you to connect to My Kaspersky or create a new account.
    • Updated interface for the following components: Reports, Mail Anti-Virus, Web Anti-Virus, Notification Center, Network Attack Blocker, and Quarantine.
    • Added support for personal data processing regulations in the United Kingdom and Brazil, as well as personal data processing regulation for California residents.

I hope they stop installing their stupid VPN without the user's consent

It can be easily uninstalled from 'Programs', and from memory one can opt out during installation if one pays attention, but I'm not sure

I know that but I'd rather have the option instead of having to uninstall it and possible have it leave traces behind. No there is no option. you just suddenly notice its icon in the taskbar. Until they remove that crap, I am not touching Kaspersky products personally.

I agree. They should make it optional. Especially since they have to release a patch for KIS just to fix bugs in KSC:

Well I guess no AM is perfect ;)

there were rumors that ksc installation would be opt-in while 21 was still in beta. i don't understand why they changed their mind on that. :thumbd:

Does the 2021 version work with a normal key?

I'm sure the VPN is a marketing decision as they are likely including it in hopes of getting people to upgrade to the unlimited version.

If you mean like a key from previous editions (ie. 2020 or 2019) then yes. The same key can be used to activate any version with the same edition (KAV or KIS, etc.)

yeah, i think that's the only reasonable explanation.

If you meant a retail key instead of a beta activation then yes, it is my understanding that you can. That said I have not tried it yet.

Kaspersky works with a -1/+3 scheme so to activate version 2021 your key must have been issued for version 2018, at least.

KIS 2021 Patch A is not behaving nicely with Edge at all. slow browsing, things are not loading in, had to uninstall.

and yes, i have tried tweaking it, script injection is disabled, etc etc

KIS 2020 is having an insane delay on apps launching after boot.

had to go with ESET temporarily...

I had to do that 8 months ago. Still there. :isay:
My KIS 2020 license was a waste of money. Glad it was cheap.

I've significantly decreased the protection level on my computer with this move, but the annoyances/performance issues forced me to do so.
At least the lack of dynamic protection from ESET is balanced by Comodo's auto sandboxing.

I'm fairly certain Kaspersky will fix the issues with 2021, but it will take some time.

Also it was sad to see how little the security section progressed since i last followed it. there are no good options.

I have KS Cloud, and when i launch the GUI and click on the settings gear on the bottom left, on the bottom right i see i can choose a security level that i never noticed before. Am i already on a default security level.

    Hi @Dragon1952
I use KIS but I think that it's similar in KS Cloud
    It's means:
    • High.- This level provides comprehensive protection that is needed when the risk of a computer infection is high. This security level can reduce your computer's performance.
    • Recommended.- This level provides optimal protection; the resource consumption is acceptable for most computers. This security level is set by default.
    • Low.- This level provides the least possible protection, but increases computer responsiveness. Before selecting this level, perform a full scan of your computer.
