Im running PCloud pro with geswall and comodo (firewall only)
Also: hardenit, emet, and Script Defender with mbam & sas for on demand scanners
Im not sure whether to add an av (avast, avira, or eset)

Is PCloud good enough as my only real time av/antimalware?
What i want to know is how effective it is and how broad a range of threats it protects against.

I'd say it's proven to be very effective in my experience with it, only (and only if) your computer remains connected to the internet all the time.

As you said you are always connected 24X7 then there is no problem for you using only Panda Cloud just make sure that you vaccinate your USB drives and you are good to go;)

With Comodo FW and GeSWall, you are already protected...

As you know no AV is 100% effective on any given day. FWIW I have cleaned up several infected pc's over the past year that were running PCAV. The thing that annoys me most about PCAV is that the real-time module will "stop" out of the blue for no rhyme or reason. This is happened on numerous occasions regardless of the build.

Even though we've had some incidents in the support forum about this, it is not very common.

I have been running Panda cloud on all 3 of my computers since Panda cloud has been released and I have not had any random stops either.

I've come across several threads on your forum over the past year. I see a lot of page views and very little commentary since most of those with the problem fail to report back. IMO it happens enough to warranty a sticky with additional t/s'ing steps besides an uninstall using the pcav uninstaller and reinstall. I'm sure that you guys can reproduce the issue in the lab to get a better idea on what is causing your product engine to stop. Whether it boils down to compatibility issues with other security software, or issues with specific version of the os, etc. it's still a legitimate problem that affects even the most recent build of pcav.

I will have to agree with this here. IME I have also seen lots of instances where PCAV shuts itself down when the machine is infected and even seen it not even install if a given system is infected.. :doubt:

PCAV shuts itself down when the machine is infected: I have seen this happen with many av's when the machine is infected. Thats why its detection then curing if needed.

If any of y'all can get Panda Cloud to randomly shut down post a report on the forum so we can gather some logs and see whats going on.

I do own couple of cloud pro license but I dont use it.. Because I dont see the point keeping a security guard while knowing it will chicken out if someone comes to attack me ..lol.. Yes its true i have seen couple other AV's having same problem when the system is infected..But panda and eset wont even install if the machine is heavily infected again thats IME.. o_O

This is correct. IME, most (if not all) av's fall against malware if it slips thru and gets executed. the downside i see in PCAV is that as it relies on internet connection, basically there's not too much you (nor PCAV) can do when you are offline.

I am following with only Panda Cloud Pro (Hitman Pro on demand) and am finding it great, is lightweight, has an excellent web filter, and besides being quite simple to move, I look forward to version 1.4 that comes later this month.

For me is behaving even better than Avast! IS was before formatting.
