The directions said to uninstall any virus programs on your puter. It was not clear if this
meant ESS V4.3.... or not. So I uninstalled everything on my puter relating to Eset.
I used the tutorial on "How do I manually uninstall Eset". I am running Vista and this
process took several hours and was rather complicated. The permissions in Vista
gave me no end of trouble with "infcache.1".
So I now have ESS v4.0.417.0 on my puter and it seems to be running well. HOWEVER, I can now find NO settings for a firewall on any kind. Has it been removed from the hands of the user? Do I have a two way firewall functioning?
    Thanks for any help.

Dumb question but are you sure you installed ESS and not EAV by accident? I myself have done this in the past.

Thank you for Elapsed for responding.

Yes, I managed in my infinite stupidity to install the wrong version.
The correct one is now running and the firewall is fine.

You didn't have to go through all that time and trouble of manually unintalling it. You could have used the same installation package that you used to install v4.0.314 to uninstall it. Takes less than 10 minutes and all you have to do is reboot.

My friend has a laptop with Vista Home Premium on it. I had installed ESS 3.0.684 installed on it months ago. Just recently I used the same installation package to uninstall it before installing ESS 4.0.314. I then had to use the installation for for 4.0.314 to uninstall THAT because in about a week his whole system was totally dorked up because of ESS 4.0....I mean it really ran like kay-rap. Reinstalled 3.0.684 again and my friend's laptop was up and running perfectly again.

I don't think there ever was an ESET Smart Security 2.7.

ddxmilano may have been infering to NOD32 v2.7

That being said, NOD32 v2.7 is available for download.
