It depends on the promo and discount. A few months ago I paid $20 for NIS2010 3-user 2yr., and few years ago I paid $15 for KIS 3yr.

Paid for 2-year subscription of NOD32 v2.7 and used it for 2 years. Didn't like v4, so I paid for 2-year subscription to F-Secure 2010. Used it for 2-3 months and found it to be way too slow at times. Switched to avast! 5 and planned to purchase another 2-year deal, but not enough difference from free version to compel me to purchase. Going to try to stick to plan of free or lifetime licenses from here on out if I can.

If my choices are only limited to the options you presented, I would have to say 2-year to take advantage of the typically discounted price.

I too prefer to save a few bob with 2- or 3-year deals, but Amazon has had some good 1-year offers on security software for 3 PCs - KIS 2009 was about 10 quid last summer.

The one-off payment for Sandboxie is probably the best value for money (apart from the free version, that is). It'll protect me long after the KIS 2009 subscription has expired.

I usually buy for 1. I am hoping to dump 2 or 3 of the licenses I have. There is no one product I am happy enough with to make a long term commitment.

I have always bought for one. With Panda I may go two. I feel they have started that climb to the top and 2010 is very good but 2011 may be the kicker.

I have never paid for security and I have never had issues with malware.
EDIT: well, I paid 0.99cent for winpatrol xD
