What product stops this trojan from getting in?

    Would Ewido?
    Would Safe'n'Secure?
    Would Antihook?

I have McAfee, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, Ad-Aware SE Plus, MSAS, Winpatrol, Spybot S&D and some registry thingy..

None of these stopped it. What would?

    Thank you,

    Jane

Nothing will stop it getting in because it IS NOT a trojan it is a windows exploit that using the proper java fixes THe anti viruses just call it a trojan to make things easier

BUT the applets will still be detected by antiviruses even though they cannot run or do anything

    First of all......Awesome Forum.

Now, everyone just relax and take a deep breath. The Java/Byte is no big deal at all. I inadvertently entered a site and was immediately pounded by the Big,Bad Java/Byte. I,like many others here, run AVG Free and it detected it immediately (well, after it hit me 19 times). I had to manually shut down and then restart.

    Long story short.....
    -Run AVG.
-When it is through it will show you a list of what it found.
-Next to each listing there is an option to go to the folder where the "virus" is located.Click on that option.
-You are now in the "jar" folder.
-Go to the top left hand side of the window.Click on "Edit" and then "Select All".
-After that, if you are running XP you will see a Red X on the left hand side of the window. It will say "Delete the selected items".
    -Click on that Red X.
-You will get a pop-up that asks if you are sure you want to send those items to the recycle bin.
    - Click on "Yes"....(I could have left that part out , huh?)
-Lastly, go to your Recycle Bin and empty it.
-Run AVG and you will be good to go. ;)

One last thing....just stay out of "THOSE" websites. That's the only true prevention.

Just wanted to post and say Thanks to all the people who posted under this thread. I found the TrojByteVer on my pc about six hours ago. Apparently some well enduced coffee and a forum full of great resolutions solved the problem. :D

So thanks for all the dedication to helping others with pc problems. Was a fairly simple and easy fix.

    Happy Puting!

hi, i also have had this virus several times, i have had it on my win98se and winxp sp2 machines.. i have free AVG antivirus ... linksys router...adware,spybot

thanks for the info about the virus.. at least its not nasty.. i use Thunderbird (www.mozilla.org), and firefox (http://www.mozilla.org)

so i dont get affected (they get on there but i dont notice them anyways!) i have NEVER had anything infect firefox or thunderbird! yet before when i had outlook and ie i would get hit with virusees and spyware all the time.. even thru av and firewall!

my suggestion to prevent this: get firefox and thunderbird..

Thanks, this was very usefull. This was my first alert from AVG, in almost 2 years of computer use. Lots of spyware, but no trojans, or viruses, till this. Anyway, thanks again, & to the people that keep asking how to remove it, READ THE DANG THREAD PEOPLE, how hard it is. All i did was followed the delete the jar file post, ta-da, AVG has no more alerts.

    Java/ByteVerify - Help!

I saw the old topic on this but since its 2 years old, I thought Id start a new one since some system things might be different.Ive only scanned with AVG and ive tried CCleaner but there are still 58 infected files.

    The directories are:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Tom\Application Data\Sun\v1.0\jar
    and
    C:\Documents and Settings\Dust\Application Data\Sun\v1.0\jar

I don't know if I can simply delete them or not because I don't want to mess any vital files up.

    How Do I remove this?

    Hi,

The last time I had such a file (about six months ago), I just deleted them. No problems. I believe this was the most recent advice that I saw as of a few weeks ago.

    Java/ByteVerify

I found this virus and AVG won't heal it, delete it or move it to the virus vault.

Is this a virus that can cause serious harm and how do I fix it?

Please try and explain in a simple way, I'm not the best on computers. Thanks alot.

Thats odd, I opened up the Java program but there is no "Cache" tab.

Is it possible Spyware Doctor could of removed it as I just deleted some infections with that.

Thanks for the help, what a great idea for a forum.

Check the path showing in your screenshot and delete them if found.

Which version of Java are you using?

    Version 1.5.0

My virus software isn't picking it up now. I think I'll restart the PC and do another scan too be sure once I've check the paths like you suggested.

    Thanks alot.

Edit: Hum... the path is still there but it won't let me delete it. :doubt:
