iversion/noiversion mount flags

  1. These mount flags are supposed to indicate whether or not to increment the i_version field of an inode when it is modified. What exactly are the implications of this? Which is the default?

(And what is i_version used for? Some Googling seems to indicate it has something to do with NFS, but I'm having trouble finding a straight explanation.)

What are you trying to achieve?

  3. Nothing, just curious. :) Though it looks like iversion may be useful for some HIDS stuff?

(It looks to me like noiversion is the default, but I'm not certain...)
