I've just trying to post an update about Privacy Eraser and I keep getting logged out. Eventually I stayed logged in long enough to post. Just me??
It was very strange. I wrote my post and tried to post it and got a message that I needed to be logged in to do that. That happened about half a dozen times or more in a row.
Nup! Nothing different than I usually do as far as I know. It was on my laptop and I'm back on my desktop PC now and haven't had it happen. Oh well, I shall not lose sleep over it.
To my knowledge, private browsing mode doesn't clear cookies during a browser session, but only when closing a session. So using private browsing mode shouldn't be a reason for getting logged out. Is there something different on the laptop that could explain the difference? Could there be something automatically clearing session cookies? Some overactive security/ privacy/ cleaning setting or application, that is on your laptop and not on your desktop? By the way, was it a Windows system, or your Mint installation? (I can hardly imagine some overactive security/ privacy/ cleaning setting or application on Mint.)
Besides a couple of non security or privacy related programs they are set up the same. HP Support Assistant and TomTom software on the desktop and Logitech software on the laptop. I considered BlackFog Privacy, although it is installed on both machines and does a Privacy Clean every few hours independently, I ruled that out because it wouldn't repeatedly delete cookies. It should run once only, and ignore cleaning Firefox if it is open at the time anyway. Yes, sorry. It is a Win10 machine.
yes, yes, i know that it doesn't. but pbm (and etp in ff in particular) causes issues with some websites. so i thought maybe it was the culprit.
Thanks, imdb. Yes, I can imagine about strict or custom Enhanced Tracking Protection settings, although I never noticed on Wilders, only with a certain webshop. I didn't know about Private Browsing causing issues, as it should only clear history when closing the browsing session.
pbm is a red flag for some websites. they prevent you from accessing their content if you're using pbm. now i'm not saying that wilders is one of them, but i've seen many that do that.
Thanks, imdb, I think I read about that, once, but I had forgotten about it. And I never noticed, as I hardly use private browsing but instead let Firefox clear history when it closes.
