No - it's a place that is in the process of transition..... so it's a slightly nervous place at the moment ;)

I'm kinda convinced that Photobucket contacted Wilders in a desperate bid to slow me down hehe .......... but just on the off chance that wasn't it, then at the end of the day - Them as pays the piper, calls the tune .....

Sure I know there have been some editing decisions that have upset people. I've been wound up when something that wasn't aimed solely at an individual, was considered to be as such and resulted in the thread being deleted. It makes it that little more difficult to build a thread up.

That said, once everyone is able to work with surer footing - the good will & humour that abounds on these boards will find its way through again, in a way that everyone can live with.

I'd still kinda like to be the boss tho, maybe alternate Sundays ? or on Bank Holidays ......... I'd supply my own keyboard ........ bring my own sandwiches and..... I have support staff - Eddy, hang tight I think we may be needed. :D

I concur....not only as a moderator but as a long time member of Wilders.

I'll start by saying that while changes to this Forum are indeed being discussed as are other aspects of the site....I personally do not quite understand the over the top reaction from certain regular posters to 10F.

Sure....We had an Announcement thread that not only gave a perspective of the state of 10F but also contained certain requests in order to get 10F back in line with how our other Forums are handled. That should not be construed to mean 10F is still not a place where "almost anything goes" and all that's been asked for the most part is contained in the above mentioned Announcement.

I'll stand corrected but as of this posting there has only been 3 changes that I can recall....

    • Birthday threads will be allowed but will be closed after approx 2 weeks.
    • Threads that relate to congratulations for posting numbers are no longer allowed.
    • Posts have been removed that in the Wilders Team opinion fall into the area of the requests mentioned in the above quote concerning What we're looking for going forward.

Let's also use this thread as an example that I'll not moderate and I'll ask anyone that wishes to respond via PM if they themselves do not see certain posts that could be moderated if one takes into account the above mentioned quoted requests :doubt:

My hope is that We all....Wilders Team members and regular posters to 10F....can achieve these non-earth shattering requests as positives. Will there be and have there been removed posts\threads since the Announcement ?
Sure....but hopefully those that have Wilders 10F Forum as their regular place to hang-out will understand or eventually understand that it is in the best interest of all that visit this forum and not just those that wish to continually "go to excess and feel every joke needs to be one-upped with a more graphic or crude reply".

This house needs to be cleaned and I'll ask that the regular posters to 1OF utilize the PM function and respectfully ask your comrades that wish not to adhere to these simple non-earth shattering changes to co-operate.

    Regards,
    Bubba

I'll certainly plead guilty to often having played the one-up-manship game with jokes, "Hey, that reminds me of this other one ..."

But crude? Hopefully not. To the best of my memory, I only had one deleted, a (I thought) perfectly good and clean blonde joke which resulted in Paul hisself deciding and posting that blonde jokes are inherently contrary to the TOS. I still don't understand that, but what the heck, I'll play by the rules.

I'm sure everyone has read the TOS and understand what we can and can't post. However over the last couple of months its sad to say these rules have been expanded to the point where a mod considers a thread to be in viiolation against the TOS. My point being what we may consider acceptable and post.....another (mod) does not!!! The key is the perception as to how you view a topic and is it offensive or noto_O?.....Ten F..........is suppose to be a place to let your hair down and post threads that are on the light side,....funny......interesting.......informative....etc..etc....but 10F has gotton to the point where a lot of members are very hesitant to post and gun shy their post will be removed!!!! Just because another mod...thinks it against the TOS.....maybe it is than maybe it isn'to_O? Why even have a 10F>>>> stick with the tech questions at least they won't be delected!!! (than maybe so)!!!! Very sad on this issue and what is being done here :( :( :thumbd:

    To all:

This thread has been allowed to continue because it's well within our guidelines. What will not be allowed is public questioning of past decisions or public discussion of past decisions.

Please keep that in mind as you share some of your thoughts,

What is important is NOT what has been decided ion the past but what will be decided in the future!!! Point being what makes a forumo_O? What make a forum worko_O? Answer: the MEMBERS........ true one must have rules or there will be confusion!!! However.......I will state again 10F based on other forums I have visited.... has to be a place of relaxation ....and not apprehension if ones thread going to be removed.....or your receving a privatge messages which may or may not be in violation of the TOS......What has to be decided by the power to be.......is a loosening of the TOS...or special rules set up for 10F>>>...if this can't be accomplished remove 10f...stick witha tech threads

What the Owners\Admins of this Site decide to do whether it be with this forum or any other forum will be dictated by what they feel is appropriate and in the best interest of the Wilders Security Forum membership as a whole.
However....We will not be discussing publically what they should or should not do.

As always....if one has a problem with moderating....feel free to PM an Admin of these forums and bring your thoughts to their attention but do understand those items mentioned above will not be permitted as part of this public discussion.

I may have bricks coming at me, but I for one was glad to see a bit of a change.

There was indeed a lot of good humour, but also a lot of it was a few people having fun with each other. Nothing in itself wrong with that, but what got old to me, was any and every thread eventually got trashed with this, and that did get old to me. In that sense sticking to the topic becomes relavant.

I hope a fun middle ground can be achieved.

    Cheers,

    Pete

What makes this a very difficult to understand Owners/Admins will make the decesion what is in the better interest of the members!!!! Members make this forum work!!! There should be a vote by the members......majority rules......without members there is NO forum....My point is this those in the driver seat should listen to the members on what they have to say and want...be fair.....take a vote then.......apply the rules and changes accordling..... what we are closely moving toward is a dictatorship....not freedom of speech............. Sure the owners call the shot its their forum...however if this going to turn away members or potential members...what good it ito_O? Freedom of speech and the abiality toa express yourself is what 10F should be about......well...just have to wait and see....however based on what I have been reaiding I don't really see a change coming.....sigh....o_O

    Hi Antus

I don't think you understand. This isn't a democracy. When we sign up we agree to the TOS. It's Paul Wilders forum, and he gets to make the rules.
And I think most members agree it's working very well given it's real purpose which I don't think is 10F. It's helping folks with their security and other computing issues.

Point well taken.......the purpose of this forum is to help others in the area of security, computers and such. I agree...so...based on that premise we really don't need a 10F...Correct....on no democracy....we agreed by the TOS, so we must live with it sigh!.... bad day in bed rock......

All other issues aside - I would like to apologise to Triple Helix for my post #5. It was very much part of my traditional 10F exuberance which is clearly not quite reigned it yet - and not as may have appeared, a reflection of any disrespect for members of this forum, Triple Helix, or his feelings on this issue.

    Regards
    Andy :)

    Good on yoo young e-o.

It's an encouragement that yoo have pologised to Trip Helex for trashing mee in post #5. I suppose I shud pologise to him for gouging yoo in #4!

Peter pretty much hit the nail on the head. It's Paul's site and "his" TOS is the Bible.

Mike pleaded guilty to sum stuff too...but as yoo all no....I am innocent!!

    It wasn't mee, Angelic ed

I also have to agree with this.

I can say that with things getting the way they were here 10F seemed like a whole different forum and I stopped looking all together (I know I ended up missing a lot of birthday threads and such that I would have posted in), not understanding the inside jokes and references, etc. It just kind of seemed that the technical forums were becoming decidedly separate from 10F, and these "new" changes seem to be a good step towards making 10F a more integrated part of the rest of the forums.

Some things were a little "course". My concern was if one of the little ones at home walked up behind me at the wrong time. However, nothing was really  :ouch: over the top.

I do not see a big shift in policy. What on earth was/am I missing? o_O

Whatever it is, it has not reduced my visitations to 10F. So I am confused by those who see something missing. Sorry, I must not get it. :doubt:

I do think the size of the membership now has something to do with the changes. Such as congrats on the number of posting. ;)

"The answer to that is, no."

The rest of the answer concerning PM's and Privacy at Wilders can be found here by a Site owner\Admin.
