I have tested almost everything but nothing seems to work. Have you successfully tested any firewall on a x64 system?

Wouldn't it be the same as Vista x64? I.e., whatever runs on Vista x64 should run on 7 x64? I don't use one, behind a router here....

Vistaá 64 bit firewall is good, so Windows7 must be also, why bother with something else?

I think CIS is compatible to some extent to Win7 even the 64 bit version.
If you install it using compatibility mode Vista!

But don't expect it to be bug free.. :D :D

I think the point was, the built-in firewall should be fine, unless you're after something like Comodo to freak out about everything that moves... if that's the case, then you'll probably just have to wait till it's made for 7.

I hear the win7 firewall has been improved further from the Vista one. Depending on what it's like after release I might just stick with it.

"unless you're after something like Comodo to freak out about everything that moves"

Exactly. I need granular control. And a comfortable assistant to create rules.

"Have you tried the new Outpost Firewall beta with support for Win7 ?"

No. I have not tried the Outpost Beta yet. The download links have been censored...surprise surprise ;)

Has ANYONE tried the Outpost Beta? Does it work?

Any specific improvements? File hash checks or dll injection prevention?

because you want to be freaked out? did not mean to insult you, but Win7 is still in beta, should be an improved vista FW, which was very decent by itself (FW that is not a HIPS), guess you do not enjoy the fact that UAC becomes a slideable bar to reduce pop-up fatigue.
