I read somewhere about only getting a demo version of the security suite unless you purchase a license key.
So how are you supposed to try the suite to decide if you want to buy it or not.
I have KIS on one computer and I'm interested in testing Avira on another.

    Any ideas?

The dates on the files available for download at Avira are 26.10.2006.
I'm wondering if the beta is what is available yet?
There should to be a time-limited trial if it is out of beta.

We will find out, because I agree, there needs to be, or will be, a trial of the suite. Looking into it.

CJsDad, I am not sure if my link will get you there. The pains of a young company growing quickly.:) I have contacted them and give me a chance to work this out so you can try it. If it is really this hard, you deserve it free just for finding a issue that should not have happened. Will get back to you soon.

It is a great product but they need to get with it on making it easier for people to try it. The product will sell itself but no one wants to fool with an overly complicated and annoying process just to get a trial. If AVG and others can handle this I am sure Avira can step up. They have a great program.

I agree, I wont even start to tell you about an issue I had with a certain beta license. But this along with not realizing that you cant even go to the homepage of the site and find an easy link to trial either the AV or the suite, is, sorry, crap. And they know I will speak my critical mind. So I could be wrong and not see it, or you folks could be right, and they will fix it. They are smart folks who do listen to their consumers, so give them a chance. I did.:D

In Avira forum, I asked about trial of suite extending that thread and the answer is, the only way to get test key is to go to http://forum.antivir-pe.de/thread.php?threadid=15441

Wish I had better news. Still can be done but not good marketing. Maybe they want to roll it out when they add more features but it is strange to me.

Sorry for asking. Smustaca is a member here and head of the beta forums. So I have already asked at 2 other places and, hmmmmm, (she or he), and I talk increasingly more frequent of late. I will be around this weekend and one of us will respond in a PM as I am sure, Bubba is getting ready to show up. Whatever Aviras solution is to this issue, it will get posted here.

Thanks huntnyc, Go Giants, but this is crap. I am tired of seeing folks have to jump through hoops to get something like this and as such, am putting them on the spot to correct this and make it easier for consumers to try the best suite out their. Dont keep the damn thing, under lock and key.:cautious:

Also keep in mind, this suite is still in development with a lot of new things coming in 2007. So to imply they are at the stage of others, ready to show a finished product for free for 30 days, well, it just isn’t their yet. They are slow and perfectionists at creating what they envision as a true and complete Security Suite. So ride now, or ride later, but you will ride, at some point. The suite currently just has the added firewall. Antispam and rootkit detection are next with some surprises that I don’t even know about yet.

    trjam,
You are probably right about the stage of development.
That would explain the date on the download files. No sense in rushing a release before it is ready.
And also :thumb: :thumb: for helping people.

There is a 30 day trial of the suite. You just email Avira and request a key for it and one will be emailed to you.

Do you have the e mail address?
I've tried the e mail address that was given over on the Avira forum, avpe@avira.com.
I tried it twice and no one ever responded.

Also tried this http://forum.antivir.de/thread.php?threadid=15441 and never got any response.

    Hi,

    I am a HE :)

trajm, the Suite is not "still in development".
We plan to add new features, of course, as in any other product. What is now released, is stable and so far, without any important bugs.

As for the trial version, we are working on this in this moment.
We will have a trial of the Suite as for all other Avira products.

Anybody interested will be able to request the evaluation key from here:
    http://www.avira.com/en/products/test_licence.html

Development was referring to "features to be added".
