I'm on a unsecured public wifi that is setup to be shared & I know about
sniffer programs being able to steal passwords & logins.

In Network Connections there's the Internet Gateway showing is that suppose to
be there & are there others connecting threw my pc to get to there's.

I installed "Wireless Network Watcher" to see who else is connected to the
public wifi connection & there's about four others.

Operating system? I'm guessing you are using Windows XP?

I don't believe what you think is happening is actually happening.

I'm using xp on a older HP laptop it's just a open wifi connection that's using Clear Wireless
with three other's using it, I used Wireless Network Watcher to find that out.

I'm using Comodo Internet Security for protection, for a little while
I was not able to browse the internet even when it said I was
connected when I disabled the Internet Gateway.

It comes & goes the Internet Gateway is there one minute & the next
it's not it showing up, I was able to disable it & get on the Internet now.

The reason I'm so concerned is because I'm starting to build some
wordpress blogs & I also will be logging into forums like these with
    out a vpn.

I'm building four blogs & wordpress is hard to make it where your able to
login to each securely with out buying a SSL certificate for each.
