Hello. I have tried to install Paragon Backup & Recovery 2014 Free on two different machines, both the 32- and 64-bit versions, and both installations have failed in two ways (the same two ways).
I am using the installation files provided by Download.com, which were pointed to by the links on http://www.paragon-software.com/home/br-free/index.html.

First, when the installation extracts the .msi, it creates a file named BR2014_Free_ea_x32.msi, but then tries to install br_free.msi, as can be seen in this screen shot fragment:

I tried to work-around this error by leaving the .msi file in place and renaming it to br_free.msi.
This appeared to work when the installation procedure was run a second time:

And the procedure completed without error:

However, the new version of Paragon Backup and Recovery is no-where to be found:

I searched the entire C: and D: drives and the program has not been installed.

I repeated the installation with the 32-bit release on two systems and the 64-bit release on one system and all three installations failed in the same ways.

I also tried to Right-click | Install the file named BR2014_Free_ea_x32.msi directly. On the 32-bit system, it presented me with the Modify/Repair/Remove dialog box:
    http://i62.tinypic.com/mwr3vk.jpg
which indicates to me that the installation procedure believed that at least some parts of the program had been installed. Selecting either Modify or Repair and Next caused the installation process to complete without error, but the installed program still cannot be found.

I don't see any other reports of users having these difficulties. I am a reasonably adept PC user (retired after 29 years with Digital/Compaq/HP), but I'm willing to admit a mistake when I make one (them).

The problem with the mis-named .msi can be easily reproduced, but someone must have been able to install the 2014 version of Backup & Recovery.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Thanks and regards,

    I can´t reproduce your problems.

I tried the installation of B&R 14 Free in a Windows 7 x64 machine using the installation file you linked to. The installation finished normally and I can open the program from the desktop icon and execute all the wizards. The installation process is identical to the one I have encountered previously when installing Hard Disk Manager 14.

Thank you for checking, Robin. I downloaded the installation files from Download.com again this evening (9:45PM EDT) and now the program installs correctly on both machines. Perhaps the installation files were swapped out on the Download.com servers, I don't know. But if you look at the partial screen shot at http://i60.tinypic.com/2hd6v4p.jpg , you can clearly see that when the installation procedure ran this afternoon, it was trying to install br_free.msi and not BR2014_Free_ea_x32.msi as it should have.

    Thanks and regards,

In fact, I just re-ran the installation file which I downloaded this afternoon and it generated the same error, i.e. failed while looking for br_free.msi.
So there was definitely something wrong with the download files which were available this afternoon and which have since been replaced.
