I have a Linksys E4200 Router. Is it bad to turn off the firewall router and just rely on my Bitdefender Internet Security firewall?

I don't want them conflicting with each other or doing extra work and make my internet slower

what is your take on this?

I would not turn it off as your router is your first line of defense. I would keep both running. There should not be any conflicts with this.

I am using both (not Linksys) and suffer no slow downs. Me thinks the network card and router, when properly configured, are seldom the bottlenecks when it comes to speed.

My router - It's not the pure firewalling features I'm interested in, but I'm also able to block certain top domains that are known malware carriers. Combine it with your software firewall and possibly Norton DNS and those layers alone will make your browsing experience more secure.

Two software firewalls = bad idea.

One software firewall + one hardware firewall = good idea.

If I had to choose either, it would be the hardware firewall any day.

I agree. The router has a dedicated processor + other chips that are dedicated for the tasks. The only reason I use a software fw (windows fw) is to block arbitrary outbound access.
