Iptables vs Firestarter

    Any linux user here?

    I've heard firestarter is just a gui for iptables? Is it true? Because when shutdown firestarter firewall goes deactivate. Why is that?

    I don't want to create new account on some linux forum, that's why I'm asking here.

    Yes Firestarter is just a GUI for iptables.

    Also you dont need to have Firestarter running to be proteced.
