I'm noticing more and more websites are showing a box that says we are tracking your IP address. These sites are run of the mill web searches and while my IP address being out there was not previously a concern, it now gets my attention when I see that box. I have a router and my provider uses a changing address at each start up, but is there something else I should be using? Don't know what all they can do with your ip address?

Contrary to beliefs, an IP address isn't that useful, and, no matter how you hide it, somebody has it logged. Worry less about that than other tracking methods that are all too common. You can use a VPN or something like Tor if you're really startled by it.

I did download TOR because of it but my ip address still shows my provider and link city. I thought TOR would change that but it doesn't seem to. If there's not much they can do with it, I'm fine, they just must be publicizing it more for some reason, thanks.
