Is 1.0 final in Advanced System Care? We get the files directly from the author via email, since SmartDefrag came after Advanced System Care release, I assume its still beta code in Advanced System Care.

    # Major Geeks : Beta?... What is this, Beta ... Dear Miss Beta ... Beta is Better.
Now, I do not search any more it something else. With this "Beta", really I reach saturation point, to my great satisfaction. Trustworthy Beta ...

To quote Rick James, cocaine is a hell of a drug. I have no idea what your saying, I talk to people as far away as Japan and their English translates better.

Speaking of which, he just sent us beta 3.1.0 of Advanced System Care. The Iobit betas tend to be very stable and usually are more to get feedback then anything else:

    What's New in Beta 3.1.0
    ------------------------------------------
    * Fix translation bug in utilities tool
+ Add translation for FireFox Optimizer

Put me in the skeptics camp. These tools really don't help much if your machine has adequate resources and you do a reasonable job of keeping it clean.

Skeptical of disk defragmentation? Really? Or just in third party utilities?

I've tried and i had some impressive results. At least for me.

Using here PerfectDisk, and when i defrag there are always left some files behind not defragmented( from 50 and up, if are many files that need defragmentation).

Of course that depends on number that has to be defragged.

I'm not saying that Perfect Disk is bad, but on contrary, it's doing job perfectly (Maybe that's why is called PerfectDisk:p ).

When i runned Smart defrag there where 0 files left to defrag (Keep in mind that i've used defrag and optimize).

Very impressive indeed. Because i use CpuIdle Extreme(Very Good *puppy* ), i have to disable it first because CPU is 100% with CpuIDle Extreme and Iobit Smart Defrag seems to have problem to run with it together(just at my pc), which is not important anyway

But, as always said, "you" have to try it and decide does it suits you or not. You must have it mind to compare with other defragmentators in some reasonable time( put them all in test) and then to figure it out.

Do you need freeware or not, which is one of the questions.

As far as this point no free defrag tool provides boot defragmentation:system files, MFT, Metadata and others ( correct me if i'm wrong) which is another thing you have to look up.

JkDefrag in IMO is another good tool (confusing GUI), but is doing the job.

Look at the comparison chart from the iobit in which they are claiming that they are very good.

I have been using Auslogics defrag for some time.I want to try the IObit Smart defrag. But I want to know if it has to be always on.Can I use it to defrag whenever I want or does it have to be always on to auto defrag. If it always runs in the background, how much RAM does it use?
    Thanks in advance.

No, you can turn off the auto defrag.

Currently showing at 2264K in task manager.

I tried shutting down IObit and leaving Windows Task scheduler to do the job but the IObit screen pops up when it is defragging. With IObit running all you see is the icon changing in systray.

I have it using autodefrag and scheduled daily.

IMHO a comparison chart with not much information and provided by the vendor themselves is rather questionable.

Not defragging, and not all third party utilities, just some of the "system optimizers" like memory adjustment stuff.

The very reason that they excist is IMO based on a misconception in that Windows own memory management sucks, but it is'nt,show me one so called 'optimiser' that really improve or is better then OS handling the memory.

I name it a bit of nitpicking to compare defraggers, they all do a good job even windows native defragger,to take one over another is just a matter of pers. preference. With the SSD disks becoming more affordable the defrag issues will basically disapear,at least fragmentation which obviously appear in these new generation disks should have almost no impact on performance.

Agree. Not argue about that. That's "why" i said that they are "claiming".

IMO all the defragmentators are doing great job. I'm talking about the freeware of course. Anyone can found something for himslef. Even defragller can do a good job.

No honestly but quite a few others including one from DiskTrix(vendor of ultimate defrag)now obsolete i guess. My experience sofar that some offer no improvement at all,and some degrade really performance i guess colliding with windows own management routines. But if it work for you, great ! :)
