That's a heavy claim they advertise.

This could by said of all driver update apps :) but I've been using Driver Booster for ages and have had only one botched driver update, i.e. EgisTec which I reverted to previous version and put it to the ignore list. You can minimize the risk of being in troubles by enabling the option to prefer stable updates over the newest and only updates passing the WHQL tests. You can also opt to backup the original drivers before updating them and you can easily roll them back, if needed.

Usually if you have the correct OEM drivers installed and you're not having issues with any devices, there's little need to update drivers. Updating video drivers can improve video performance, but there's not much need to worry about keeping other drivers updated. Updating drivers rarely increases performance or fixes issues and sometimes doing so can cause problems, due to the new drivers being buggy or incompatible. But after doing a clean install of Windows, I do use several driver updaters (along with install some optional driver updates in Windows Update) to install drivers for devices with no driver installed and replace generic Microsoft drivers with the correct OEM ones.

In general you're right @roger_m but as always there are exceptions that justify using of tools like Driver Booster. One of my comp came with Win 8 which I upgraded to Win 10. After the upgrade and subsequent investigation it turned out that there were several drivers that needed to be updated even though Windows thought they didn't. As I wasn't sure exactly which drivers needed to be upgraded I installed Driver Booster to do it for me and thanks to this app I got the seamlessly running Win 10 upgraded machine.
