I'm having a problem with Internet Shortcuts. Currently, they are showing the .url extension - and I would like to hide it. I went to Windows Explorer > Folder Options > File Types - to uncheck "Always show extension". But I can't find the File Type I'm looking for. I used a registry cleaner (Regseeker) on my system. In hindsight a very bad idea. But it's too late to go back. Does anyone know how I can get the correct File Type back? Thanks!

    Hi,

Find your 'Backup before deletion' in RegSeeker. RegSeeker is very good.

... or Restore your system for yesterday morning.

Thanks. I got my problem solved on a different message board. I installed the "URL File Association Fix" from here: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm. It worked like a charm! I was very surprised.

Also, I was turned on to ERUNT: http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/. So far, I really like this as an alternative to using System Restore. Anybody else use this?

Very popular with folks in these circles Idbit. For recovery though you'll wanna investigate imaging.
