    Iztok,

    Read my posts here:

    http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=13572;start=15

Note that the Internet Filter did not appear in my "Information on other scanner support parts" as of the date of that post, but they are there (as they are in yours) now.

Also, note my comments regarding IMON scanning HTTP, FTP, and other winsock protocals as opposed to simply scanning email (SMTP).

Furthermore, note all of the initial problems with the latest update related to other protocals unrelated to SMTP:

    - Reports of internet connectivity slowdown
    - Reports of localhost connection slowdown
    - Reports of NNTP connection slowdown or halt

Hoping to not again raise the ire of Jan, looks like they tried to implement some of the extended IMON functionality this time around and it didn't quite work out for everyone (a secondary update has resolved the symptoms for me and others: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=17573)

This is just a THEORY postulated because of some deduction and some time on my hands.

Sources said the two files are scanner for packet worms (Codered variants, SQLSlammer, Lovsan, Nachi).

In a nutshell, the role of Internet filter is to intercept exploits made by such worms like Lovsan, Red Code, Nachi, etc.
