Well that article was short, sweet, and pointless. I'm not knocking you, Dave, I just don't see how that one little marketing blurb was worth putting up on that blog. I didn't think Beta was anywhere near as close as August, so yeah, I guess we'll start finding out soon enough.

Yeah, I was sort of being ironic by posting as you know what I usually think of IE. ;)

The Beta in August was news to me though. MS certainly seem to be making a lot of hot air about IE 9. Maybe they think if they make enough it will get airborne LOL!

I hate to deflate their balloon or burst their bubble, but it will have to be bloody good to convince me to use it regularly.

Seems rather doubtful on both counts....

Perhaps not safety, as they have been tightening up their products a bit more these days. But, of course, with MS, one never knows. I certainly never expected an advisory saying my shortcuts on my desktop could open a door for hackers :ouch: As far as being the fastest, eh, not unless they've made a hell of a lot of under the hood changes. I'm not in the camp that deems IE to be bad just because it's IE, but they have a long way to go to be top dog in my book. Come August, we'll see what they've got.

Well see what happens... I mean MS released Vista which was a flop to some, then they released WIN 7 what is very nice. Some people thought Microsoft's AV wouldn't amount to much but, MSE seems to be doing quite well. So we shall see...

I bet it will be the most secure, out of the box anyway, but I highly doubt it'll be the fastest.

A browser that is dug so deep into the OS does not sound very safe to me.

    ..good point.
Not counting that oh-so-minor detail (haha), I still think it will be though (with the possible exception of Opera).
Allow for extensions and you'd have a different winner though.

I thought it might be a conversation starter, being as the release of the much vaunted IE 9 is getting closer.

    This may help you: Irony

No doubt! But in a forum which has participants with varying understanding of good old British irony you could have anticipated getting some flak ;)

I, for one, am very much looking forward to the IE9 beta.

I think I can hold-out until MS make me upgrade.

Same here really. I'll probably wait until Final to take the plunge, unless reviews really praise it. Even then I'm not all that sure.

I have a feeling MS are pushing a bit hard with this upgrade. It would probably be wise to see what bugs it develops first before getting carried away.

    Litotes had me scrambling!

My school teacher had one with a twist reserved for some pupils: "Not bad! not bad at all!" Long pause ...and then, "But bloody awful".

I'd like to see if MS will really improve features like Ad-Blocker and Bookmarks Manager etc.

IE9 will be a no go for me. I'm staying with Win XP till the end and IE9 won't run on XP.

LOL! That could equally apply to IE 8 if you ask me! :D
