I have a desktop PC using Windows 10 and wireless connected to the internet. Every time the computer goes to hibernation the internet disconnects after few minutes. I tried to read all the articles on the topic but can't solve the problem.
@samy No idea what you have tried already so here's a few things. Power saving settings is the obvious one I guess. https://woshub.com/internet-or-wifi-disconnected-after-sleep/
I have a similar problem as Samy but in my case, it is my printer. Would your recommendation also apply to a printer?
change (windows) "advanced power savings" for USB or WIFI, too simple? https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2843-change-power-plan-settings-windows-10-a.html in case that wont help study manual of your printer!
Unfortunately, there was no manual with my HP LaserJet Pro M118dw printer; only a Reference Guide which has proven to be very little help.
The user guide is offered at the HP LaserJet Pro M118dw support page. https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/setup-user-guides/hp-laserjet-pro-m118-m119-series/21996893
@jpcummins, By the way, if your printer is near your computer, you could use a USB cable instead of a network cable. This in case the disconnect issue affects the network connection but not the USB connection.
I have found that most devices handle reduced power modes very poorly, whether we are talking sleep or hibernation. Especially if you have Fast startup enabled in Windows 10 or 11. Most commonly it is the network adapters, USB, and sound that have the most issues with not coming back when the machine wakes up. Desktop PCs usually do worse than laptops. Over the years I have come to the conclusion that there is no fix for this overall. Occasionally you may find a driver that works better for the offending device. The best solution I have found is hard wire everything and just plain shut it down when not in use. Not the solution some folks want but it works.
Thank you so much, I have downloaded the link and saved it to my tools. I don't remember ever having this information or even if I received an installation disk with the printer. Regardless, I am using an ethernet cable, and though bothersome the printer works fine. Again, thanks...
Nowadays, full user guides are no longer offered with the product, but we're supposed to get a PDF from the product support page. And as new computers often don't have a CD/DVD drive, installation disks are no longer offered with the product either.
