At home I have a wireless router, but of course it is connected to the cable modem via network cable. What would be involved in sniffing the unencrypted traffic between the cable modem and router?

The easies way would be to get a hold of a cheap hub (not a switch) and another 2 cables. Put the hob between the router and the modem and attach your computer running WireShark.

Is there a less conspicuous way of doing this? I assume doing something like this would be easier than sniffing WEP/WPA wireless traffic on my own network?
