Installation Version

    I tried to install Acronis True Image 9.0 (Windows XP Home edition). But did'nt come very far. The pop up window tells me about error E00640003 having met #1601 "Windows installation service could not be found."

    Very strange message because it is certainly not the first programme being installed on my computer.

    Does anyone have an advice for me.

    In Windows services check that the RPC service is set to automatic and has started. Then check the Windows installer service to see that it is present and is set to manual.
    If all is well a fresh download may be the answer. It is also worth clearing out your stock of Temp files.
