    Alternatively: sudo apt-get install gnome-main-menu

Mint Menu is, IMO, a direct steal from Ubuntu System Panel (which is what I use). I will admit that Mint Menu has more functionality than USP, though. I learned this when I recently tried Mint 9 (32 bit). Very nice. I wonder, though, why they have both Totem and VLC installed. Redundant. I did like that they included AptOnCD (I use it all the time in Ubuntu).

    Later...

Linuxforall...I have webupd8 in my repos list, too. :). Saw the Mint Menu offering in synaptic just a few minutes ago.

Yep, it is. SuSE was the first to use it way back. I think Mint and others copied it later.
