Either way, it's sad. IJ was a good fw, but overpriced. Someone should buy the rights if they have truly given up.
The strange thing is that they had a new Vista version, just a few days ago. Maybe they have sold the product or something like that. Regards joter
Hey Stem would you be willing to try the latest version and share your thoughts on it? I havent found many threads on InJoy.
Hi WSFuser, I have always liked Injoy, certainly with its filtering capability. @all Realise this is not for those who expect a popup, there is no application control, and you will not get popups for access to certain ports etc (regardless of rules in place), and certainly is not intended for those who like "leak prevention". If we look at this basically,.. you could say it is like a router, but with very much better filter capability. (it is deep packet inspection, with (depends on version) HTTP filtering) I do need to find time to look at this latest release, as I was told there would be lower layer filtering (such as ARP),.. but my spare time is very short, so will do this as soon as I can.
This isnt very user friendly.. On installing on Windows Vista after rebooting, I discovered there is no taskbar Icon, and the Firewall GUI is only accessable from the start menu. Once on my desktop I finally managed to figure out that to get to the configuration you have to right click on any window and the Menu comes up. Next I find there is no physical way to minimize this program to the taskbar, as indicated in the Configuration tab. Also when trying to save some personal preferences, I got a popup saying cannot save to file ini this happened at almost everything i tried to do. Once you do have it on your desktop, its hard to get it off, unles you actually close it. It may be quiet and invisible, but at leat I'd like to know it was working right, and this I cant confirm.
Ok first you can copy the GUI to your desktop to make that more accessable. I found that if you open the GUI,right click on the gray aera, go to file, left click on properties, check "minimize to system tray" , click ok, right click on the gray aera again, then left click on minimize and you will have you icon in your system tray.
What for It said n.......WTF was that my screen just went Black Oh Its back again where was I Oh yes, Ahem It said nothing about running it as Admin that I could see
Interesting firewall. The firewall deskbar is a nice feature. The only thing I see missing is application filtering. So far so good. Prosecurity along with Injoy killed my internet connection after learning mode with PS and a reboot. No matter, Rollback and all is well again. I'm interested in what Stem thinks of the new version. Hopefully he has a chance to test out 4.0 and give his opinion. Anyone else testing this out?
