Anybody got any information on the efficacy of Immunet's Ethos and Spero engines?

I'm running IP alongside Avira. Keep wondering whether IP is adding anything.

Well first and foremost are you using the paid or free version?

    Free.

I am interested in info on those engines, not the product including Clam and/or BD.

If you have purchased Immunet then you can avail these engines. Having 2 more engines increase the detection rate for Immunet. :)

Yes, theoretically. But, practically, where is the evidence/tests to support that contention? As I have Avira are they superfluous?

you already have an AV and as you are surely aware no one AV covers all malware so having an additional scanner helps. In theory and practice

Not if the scanners are no good.;)

I assume there are no independently verified tests re those two engines.

Clam and BD get tested so one can form a view on them.

I was hoping somebody would have tested IP without Clam and BD checked "ON". Will Ethos and Spero find something that Avira is expected to find or, do they look for different things?
