If you use an imaging program such as Image For Windows/Image For DOS to backup your OS and then restore that image, will your files be defragmented upon restore? If so, and you do this on a regular basis, is there any reason to use disk optimization software such as PerfectDisk?

    Hi dsage

I always defrag before taking the image. From what I can see when you restore you get the disk back the way it was when you imaged. So yes I definitely use PD.

i always defrag before imaging to because i remember in norton ghost help file, yiou can reduce the size of the image if you defrag the drive before doing it because of allocation or something like that....
