I asked a member how to insert images in a thread reply, he told me to click "Manage Attachments" at the bottom of the reply screen, then click Browse. Fine, all is well now on that score.

BUT, I cannot find this facility for a PM. Please clarify.

    Thank you kindly

Without <img> tags from an existing image forum-side, you'd have to use an external source.
An external source meaning - you provide yer bud an online link "to the image."

For example, this "forum-side" image would clear with the appropriate tags.

Thank you GF as always for your explicit answer, I reckoned that was the case. So whilst we can put a pretty picture on a thread reply, all we can do with a PM is provide a link, which I can do but it is not the same as uploading a picture from my comprehensive folders.

Cannot see the reason for this difference. Puzzled.

I did try a dummy run on a PM and got a panel up asking for my URL, which I do not have.

Try again after switching these to brackets. You're looking for the "image address" before tagging.

Search "image hosting" for sites to store your images - there'll be several.
