Does True Image work on a Mac OS X machine? Is there any software to backup hard disk images on a mac?

Unfortunately Acronis TrueImage doesn't work on Mac OS X.

I only wish it did as the Mac seems to lack a real cloning tool of TrueImage's calibre. Some users have downloaded some tools that are basically front ends for Carbon Copy Cloner or the OS X disk copier tool.

The BSD subsystem under the OS X bonnet has some very powerful capabilities. But you will need to learn to use them.

None are as easy or comprehensive as TrueImage.

I hope in time Acronis add support of the Macintosh to their product line-up. They can have the market all to themselves.

For something in the meantime, why don't you investigate Retrospect Backup.

I would love to be able to back-up my Mac OS X servers with this product. There has to be a way to run through the Free BSD underpinnings.

    Hello all,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We regret to inform you that currently we do not have a backup solution for Mac OS. However, we plan to create Acronis True Image that will be able to work with it and Acronis Development Team has already started working on it.

    Thank you.

There is a solution, but not automated like Acronis:

    It's Carbon Copy Cloner

It can clone a live system to a firewire disk.

You can even start from the firewire disk, afterwards...

With Rsync it should be possible to do "incrementals"... well not actually incrementals, but Sync the image to the current situation.
