I just finished testing True Image 8 Trial Ware on my new Compaq Presario R4000 Notebook
    OS XP
    AMD Sempron 3000+
    Memory 512 MB
    40 Gig 4200 RPM HD

Backup of Logical Drive Partitions went quickly as did restoring of those partitions.
Backup of the Active System Partition (Size ~18Gig) with ~7.5 Gig Used required about 30 minutes which is what I normally see for that size.
Recovery/Restore of that Partition either by system reboot or from the Recovery disk TOOK JUST OVER 3 HOURS.

Tests with Drive Image 2002 and Hard Drive Manager, gave Image creations times of about 23 minutes each. Image restore were 20 and 14 minutes respectively.

Any suggestions/reasons why True Image is SOOOOO Slow on this system

Note: Tests on standard desktop systems gave the expected short restoration times.

Same thing on mine - - HOURS to restore a 20gbyte image. 859 has bad drivers way too slow. Try 826 its faster on my machine.

I am experiencing the same issue with the 826 build, so I wouldn't say this is an 859 issue. I boot with the restore CD, then restore the image of my C partition, which is located on the D partition on the same physical drive. It shouldn't be taking over an hour to restore the image.

We use Ghost at work, and it takes about 8-10 minutes to restore the same size image.

Something needs to be done to address this.

    Hello coppertrail,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We recommend you to update your copy of Acronis True Image 8.0 to the 859 build. In order to get access to updates you should register account on our site (or just log in if you have already created it) and then register your copy of the product. Then please create the new bootable CD and try to use it, if the problem remains please contact us. We will investigate the problem and help you with the solution.

Please note that Acronis bootable rescue CD is Linux-based and has it's own drivers. It can work slowly with the new hardware because of the old versions of the drivers. We will implement newer versions of these drivers in our Rescue CD as soon as this drivers will be available.

    Thank you.
