I'm using the latest version (8.0)

While ATI is in the process of making an image of my active partition (Win XP), is it OK to continue to surf on the web and use my MS Word processor? Upto now, i've not used the computer at all during the imaging process in fear that it will somehow mess up the backup process but I heard on antoher forum that ATI somehow "locks" the partition you're dealing with so it's alright to continue to use it.

Even though that is one of its features I wouldn't risk it. I just make my images when I know I would not want to use the computer.

Chutsman, I appreciate your reply. I agree with that and I already do so. However, I'm asking this question based on what I have heard from other ATI users and I want to verify the information "straight from the horses mouth".

What is surprising to me is that this forum seems dead. I asked a question on here sometime before Hurricane Katrina hit, and it went by unanswered. Did I make a fuss about it? No. When I didn't see much response to my post here, I thought it was because some people are a bit occupied by the recent events. Again, did i constantly bump my own thread begging for an answer like some other n00bs do on various forums I've seen? No.

What kind of jacka*s support is this? I've dealt w/ your so-called 'tech support' via e-mail and got some jackbat to handle my question. I thought coming here would make a difference and it seems I was mistaken.

Although ATI makes a good product, your support stinks.

    Hello MaverickOP,

Personally, I don't understand the reason for your ungracious outburst. I've just checked your prevous posts, which are contained in just four threads. The first, titled <Incremental Backups Has me Baffled>, was answered on the same day but you seem to have left it hanging. The second, titled <Restoring Images to a different partition>, was also answered on the same day but, once again, you didn't provide any feedback. The third thread you posted in is this one and the fourth, titled <Best of the Best> merely contained a comment.

Anyway, if your still interested, have a read of this <Acronis technical article> by Technical Director Max Lyadvinsky (I doubt that you'll get closer to the "horse's mouth" than that) and make up your own mind whether it's o.k. to carry out other tasks whilst imaging your system partition.

    Regards

I came to the same conclusion, MaverickOP.

EDIT: OK, I see where you provided the link to Brian K's posting. Yes I posted a comment there, but I was not the originator of that thread.

I can admit I missed the response from Rdgrimes in my previous posting but you haven't convinced me that ATI support is good. But then again, I shouldn't complain - level 1 tech support has never been "good" anyway.

I'll give credit where credit is due. Thanks for the providing the link - it does answer my question sufficiently.
