If I was to get Windows 7, it'd more than likely be the Home Premium version.

Home Premium Here, if I do decide to buy. I don't see any advantage for a home user in any of the other versions... Why pay more?

I'm quite happy with my Vista Ultimate (Ultimate is the only version available where I live), but objectively speaking Windows 7 Home Premium is probably the best in terms of value for money. I should also add that the Ultimate versions have an interesting feature (I haven't tried it though)which allows you to work in the language of your choice (to what extent I don't know), but considering the multicultural trend of big cities and some companies, it will certainly appeal to many people.

Home premium, in my mind the extra features of the others are bloat I do not need.

Not all editions of Windows 7 are included in the poll .

    +1

My current personal Vista is Basic edition , so if I were to upgrade to Windows 7 I would get Started edition . I use the OS for office stuff and surfing the Net and I don't need the extras of the other editions .

Have tested the beta and RC versions , so far I am not a big fan of Win7 , so I won't look at it again until SP1

Whenever I buy it or not, I will choose Home Premium (instead of vLite), which runs faster and Ultimate "features" can be replaced by more quality paid products.

I read it's only a cheap edition for 'Africa', with the starter edition you get max. 3 applications at the same time :D

3 apps limit does not apply to Windows 7 Starter anymore, MS wants it to be preinstalled on netbooks, because it is afraid, that Linux might take advatage of it.

Why did you write Africa with ' ' ?

I have Vista Basic edition and it is the onliest one I would buy . Yes , it is the cheapest one but it has everything I need . The same applies for Windows 7 and Starter edition.

Why should I pay for Ultimate edition when I don't need it and its extra feautures ? And what is wrong with Africa and African people ?!

All depends in which part of EU as Union or Europe as continent you live.
And yes, it's available in Europe.

As for poll i have voted Home Premium.

If i'm not mistaken Starter is not far from Home Premium (not true comparision), but only in Starter you can't play videos.

Too me the Wikipedia site gives more explanation between different versions of Win 7.

Not sure if it is worth the cost but I would prefer the Professional version.
