    Let me explain first. This is a real challenge put forward by Stephen Wolfram in his blog (dated June 6, 2013):

    There Was a Time before Mathematica….

    It seems the archived source code for SMP (Symbolic Manipulation Program) was encrypted, and since he asked everyone he could remember none of which remembered the key, he describes and is asking for help in cracking the source code encryption in hopes of being able to recompile the old source code (C) on a new computer.

    His description is about half way down the web page.
