Under Internet Options there are usually six tabs- general, security, privacy, content, connections and programs. Sometimes I see a seventh tab label named "advanced". But usually it is not there. Would someone tell me how to access it?

    Thanks

No, ctrl+tab will not do it.

Nothing on that page either? You vi$ta or xp? Use a reg cleaner (save me from doing a history on you)?
Temporarily disable plugin's and see if it show's.

Nevermind with the history bit, you've got more on your plate than I think I'll be able to help you with. If I had to suggest two utilitie's every win user should become familiar with the nod would go to filemon, and it's counterpart, regmon.

Edit: Try the mentioned fix here acr - http://www.neowin.net/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t542193.html

I tried pretty much everything you suggested, but no luck. Funny how I had the advanced tab a couple days ago. Thanks for trying to help.

I did both those things. For now I decided it would be a good time to give Opera a try.

I finally found a fix after not really liking Opera all that much. It is at the link below-

    http://windowsxp.mvps.org/iefaq.htm#Tabs

    The final option worked-

"'Remove IE Restrictions & Restore Missing tabs'. Download the REG fix and double-click it"

    The "REG fix" link is-

    http://windowsxp.mvps.org/reg/IE_reset_restrictions.reg

Just in case anyone else runs into the same problem.

Thanks for the time with the suggestions you made. I was able to bookmark some nice sites from them.

Can never have too many bookmark's, especially one's where Ramesh has made a contribution. Happy to hear you got yourself straightened out. Did you manage to cross compare it's referenced registry location's, values included against your's before the merge? In other word's, how much of it's content was contained and actually present in your registry, entries *possibly* removed by an automated registry cleaner?

Actually no. It was like 4:00 AM when I found that site. I just clicked the link, downloaded that fix and ran it. Then checked IE7 and the advanced tab was viewable.
