Hi Guys, Good idea, or bad idea?

I've un-checked the following two boxes at: tools > internet options > advanced > browsing (section)

Enable install on demand (internet explorer)
    Enable install on demand (other)

    Thanks

    Hi Rico,

Not a bad idea if you use IE rarely. But I hope you dont face any problems when you visit IE specific sites.

    Cheers

    Akshay.

An extemely good idea, it means sites will no longer be able to foist unsolicited download boxes at you. In future, if you wish to download, you will be the one to initiate the process by clicking in the appropriate place.

Another good thing to uncheck is:- 'Enable third party browser extentions'.

That will prevent bad sites forcing Toolbars, buttons, menu items, BHOs etc on you. Which typically happens in 'drive-by hijacks'.

Mind you, if you are going to install a legitimate prog that needs to do one of these things you should remember to re-check the box and reboot before doing the install.
