    Hey guys,

I was recently reading an article [http://www.gnu.org/proprietary/malware-apple.en.html] that had some disturbing facts regarding the security of iOS. I'm considering switching to a different mobile set up, as I'm currently an iPhone user, but I definitely don't trust Google and I'm not sure what else is out there. I'd like to find some combination of phone + OS + applications that isn't a total pain to use and is relatively free of backdoors and vulnerabilities and also relatively secure against surveillance. What are my options?

None if you don't trust MicroSoft or Google; unless you buy a "blackphone" : https://www.silentcircle.com/

Even the Blackphone relies heavily on Google services though, correct?

Perhaps the more appropriate question is how best to secure iOS?
