I-worm virus

    I got the I-worm virus. I cleaned my system with AVG. The virus wiped my desktop icons on startup, however they are still there using Task Manager. How do I restore my desktop icons on startup? Please remember after the computer loads there is only the wallpaper, so I can't get anywhere without Task Manager

    Dose explorer.exe show up in Task Manager?

    Try a system restore

    start-->all programs-->accessories-->system tools-->system restore

    The only problem is that a system restore might bring back the worm since you are restoring it back to an earlier time.

    I would try it though and see. It should bring back your desktop icons.
    After that try running a scan with kaspersky's online scanner http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

    It will check your computer for viruses WITHOUT deleting any files. See if it comes up with anything and write back.
