Prevx stopped marketing themselves as a 'we can work along-side any antivirus/security product'

its all good and nice that Prevx 'does' do that, however, aint it about time that Prevx stood on their own 2 feet and marketed themselves as a complete security solution? :doubt:

you know - A Product that holds its own, has different technology and will secure people's machine, instead of people getting this idea (because of prevx's own marketing) that it should only be used alongside a antivirus or internet security product :$

I would think so but also most of us like using the Layered Approach and as you know you shouldn't use two AV's at the same time but with Prevx you can use with your preferred AV! Also as they all say no one product will detect everything at any given moment!

I know it could seem like we're pushing users to use it alongside another security product, but the plain fact is that most users already have security installed, so Prevx would be coming on as a second layer. Giving the users the ability to install and try out Prevx without having to remove their existing security is one of our primary benefits and although it could be a bit of a slight to us, I believe that we're one of the few vendors that proclaim a non-100% detection rate and are willing to work alongside other AVs to try and reach as high of a rate as possible :)

yes, all is fine if you wish to do that,

however, Prevx's advertising at the moment, isnt too confident in its own product to be used as a single antivirus solution, at the moment, its more about the fact that it can be used 'alongside your antivirus'

most people, and i dont mean wilders users here....

will not be willing to purchase an av for £20-50 or whatever, and then add another £25 for prevx for that extra layer.

if prevx were to market themselves as they should do, people would just lean against prevx more - there is no harm in also mentioning that i can be used alongside other products, i just see No Value in marketing Prevx this way as 'its main use'

    like i said to TH,

no harm in still using the 'our product works alongside other antivirus' but surely, prevx's main point has to now be as a powerfull stand-a-lone product > that Can be used alongside other products

... and not the other way around, like it is now.

    (just my thoughts...)

I do agree with you - and Prevx is indeed more than strong enough to stand on its own (especially in the news of the latest West Coast Labs testing: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-rele...eting-real-time-testing-program-85339082.html)

We're just working on trying to convince users that even though they have another AV installed, they can continue to enhance their security. We do see a very large portion of our users progress starting with X AV, installing Prevx, and a month or two after, uninstalling X AV.

I think we emphasize the point about interoperability very strongly because we don't want users to feel like they have to immediately migrate over to Prevx. We do prefer the gentle approach, and although it may make it take a bit longer for a user to decide they want Prevx, we believe they will end up making the right choice ;) :D
