Can we use non-linear system menus? My latest OCS-Mag article explores this possibility, with a neat little piece of software called Gnome Pie. Enjoy your meal. http://www.ocsmag.com/2016/11/21/i-spy-with-my-little-eye-gnome-pie/ Cheers, Mrk
As I noted, it works great with openSUSE's GNOME SLED, which is a traditional single panel bottom version of GNOME Shell. Unlike with GNOME Fallback, there is no way to pin/remove apps from the bottom panel. Your choice is a dock - like Plank, or a hidden launcher, like GNOME Pie, that allows one to set up a launcher container to be invoked when you do need to launch something. Of course, you can add and remove apps from Favorites in the Slab menu but people want something more at hand for their work than scroll through the menu to find what they need. Honestly, GNOME Pie would be more intuitive to use if it could be invoked with the mouse alone. Far less effort for the same amount of work.
