I think this is a great forum. I bought a new computer that came with a 1 month mcaffee and I was looking for different protection. For the past 2 years on another computer I have used avg withoug problems.

I downloaded webroot and then decided to try sandboxie.

Everything is unbearable and slow now.

I am not sure if I should remove sandboxie and if so...how do I do it properly? Should I remove the mcafee? and if so how.

    thank you

by the way, I have windows 7 64 bit computer running.

Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features. Then uninstall the products.

Hi Cool Days..you can also just click your start icon (lower left), then click "all programs", and scroll down to McAfee...click and there should be a drop down for "uninstalling" which should take care of it. I also use Win 7x64...good luck.

Hi Cooldays, after uninstalling McAfee, you should download and run the McAfee Consumer Product Removal (MCPR) tool, you can get it here:
    https://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS101331

Sandboxie does not slow down things but if you like to uninstall it, you can do it from Programs and Features.

The first thing I did after setting up my new computer was to uninstall the included McAfee before it had a chance to get a foot hold. I think having done that your other problems could disappear. :argh:

Uninstall McAfee by following the steps from the previous posts. Sandboxie and Webroot SecureAnywhere are both extremely light and would not cause any slowdowns. McAfee is the problem.

That is a very informative guide, Aryeh. I would have appreciated it very much about 16 years ago when I purchased my first PC from Micron that had McAfee pre-installed along with various bloatware. Nice job!:thumb:
