I would be VERY GRATEFUL for some advice... I am being plagued by a trojan which is linked to an exe file : xwxload.exe

It constantly tries to hijack internet explorer...

I have deleated all temp files on my computer.

I have used updated norton anti virus, spybot, adaware and nothing seems to rid me of this problem completely...

    Thank you in advance!

Please find below a copy of my log:

you're running an outdated version of hijack this
    grab the new version here

unzip it into a permanent folder, doubleclick hijackthis.exe and hit scan.
post a new log from the new version please

    Thank you so much...

    Here is the new log...

I should also mention that I'm running win 98 SE and have not updated any patches or anything for a long time (years)... is there anything that I could download to help make my computer more secure in future?

    PS. I've tried deleating all of the : R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,Search = http://69.31.79.101/search.html
.... in the past but they always seem to replicate themselves and come back!

Thank you so much for your help --- my computer does now seem to be clean --- I am SO grateful...

Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the file xwxload.exe. I deleated it from my machine and, since carrying out the hijack this, it hasn't come back...

It used to plant itself in the windows/temp folder...

    Thanks again.

    Ben
