it's really cool, everything works just like a mac. i got all that expo 3D desktop stuff too, and some of the bootup stuff and the mac cursor. but, there's that white bit, next to 45 F, that needs to be fixed. i think that's from wine and proxomitron.

i'm going to bed now, i've been doing this for the last few hours :p

    lol.

there's is a slight problem with it though. it does kind of lock a bit every so often :D i think it might be that dock, i compiled it myself so i'll try running it without the dock for a bit and use a pre-compiled one instead if that's the problem.

I'm very sure you will fix this iceni, once you get familiar with it.
One day it will sing "Happy Birthday ..." to you and on the right day. ;)

Just because you have a mac doesn't mean you can't have linux or a BSD for that matter installed on the computer ;) You could even dual-boot. :D

Congrats though, maybe one day I will have a computer that has more than 256MB of RAM, a 16MB Graphics Card, and a 1.6GHz P4 (it's smokin' fast :p )

You could even mess around with netbsd's pkgsrc for your package management, and I think there is an Xorg for OS-X, but I may be wrong, so you aren't in that bad of a situation (I mean it uses a lot of FreeBSD stuff...)

    Cheers,

    Hehe, nice.

I actually like the current Crop of Mac OSes, but would'nt pay for them.

here's one last screenshot. i got a new VLC skin to match the main theme. i really like it so far.

today it locked up once for about 2 seconds and i can't see an errors in the logs, so i'm going to replace the dock with the same dock, but built by someone else instead of me. the directory it was supposed to be built in wasn't there when i did it so i did it slightly differently to other people so i hope that's the problem, even though it's not that bad.

Nice! I like the look of Mac.

But I will wait for a while before I get a Mac ... iMac that is or at least until Leopard version 10.5.1 or something rather than version 10.5.0. I am still going to build up a Linux with an old P4 PC. Hopefully I will have PC, Linux and Mac to add to the fun.

    :D

lol, i'm not sure if i'm going to keep it that way. i'll try it one more time with a newly built dock and if it works OK i'll keep it longer.

i built that version from source, but it didn't have the same directories it was supposed to have so i built the extras bit differently to other people and might have missed a dependency or done something wrong. i'll try the repo though, thanks.

I have two thoughts in my mind.

1- Haven,t used a Mac but in my exeperience, all so-called Mac looks, Vista looks etc are rather cheep looking GUI copy of original OSes. My aestheitic sense was never impressed with them. It always looked to me a bit cheepish.

2- I sometimes wonder is it ethical for linux users to copy exactly the same GUI as Vista/ or OSX. After all there should be some limit of copying the intellectual property. This though has stopped me from using any such themes for Ubuntu, FF etc although I raelly like some of them.

Just my thoughts and I am a bit obsessional about these things. Don,t mean to offence anyone!
