Hello--Thank you for having a forum like this. I went to a dummy website (a site that looks like another site, but instead, turned out to be a trojan in and of itself. Anyway, it installed all sorts of crap on my machine.

I followed the steps, installed and ran both spybot and ad-aware, and that seemed to remove a lot of it. But, I still have huntbar, and some other website that seems to pop up out of nowhere. Also, my system is running slower because these things have been secretly installed. The problems seem to be in wintools, but won't allow me to delete them. While I am typing this post, this website keeps popping up "http://65.61.157.153/AdServer/MemTurbo/Adm/ad.htm" and then another one called "lookatme.com".

Will someone please help me? Thanks!!!

Then boot normally and download VX2Finder from this link:

Excellent. Nothing usefull in there, so stay off the net until all files are deleted (second reboot)

Open VX2Finder and click on the *click to find VX2.BetterInternet* button.

Then select the *Delete these files* button.
You will be left with notice about one to be deleted on reboot.
It will ask to reboot on deletion of the last file (do that)

After that last file is gone go to
Start > run > type regedit enter and Navigate to :

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\GuardianBTOOH

(Note : the five letters in caps at the end may have changed [BTOOH] but it will still start with Guardian)

Right click on the Guardiano_O?? key and select delete.
    Close Regedit.
    Reboot.

    Open VX2Finder again and select:
User Agent$ > yes to confirm delete.
    and then
    Restore Policy

    Exit and reboot.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Thank you for your help. That seemed to fix about 90% of the problem. However, I am still getting those nasty popups everytime I use IE. It is zestyfind.com and look2me.com .

Do you know why this is?

Can you post a new VX2finder and HijackThis log?

Zestyfind and L2Me both are supposed to be removed by VX2finder.
I hope you don't have a new version. :doubt:

    Regards,

    Pieter

You will need to go another round with VX2finder.

Keep on using it untill it no longer finds any files and/or Guardian key.

    In HijackThis fix:
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - E:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\WToolsB.dll (file missing)

No rush on that one, since the file is missing anyway.

    Regards,

    Pieter
