    In other words, HP won and the consumer, once again, lost.

    So what was the point?

    HP will...

    Affected customers left out of settlement still have a resource. When it's time for a printer upgrade/replacement shift your patronage to a competition.

    Except we are likely to run into similar greedy, anti-consumer practices there too. No printer company is totally innocent. :(
