how to setup mac filtering?

    Hi

    ive got a bt voyager 2091 router and found the mac filtering in the webinterface.

    one laptop one desktop. where can i find the pc and laptops mac address?

    because of course it uses one ip adress because of the router. but i only want to allow the pc and the laptop to have better secuity.


    well and my nintendo ds which i can find the mac address for.
    woops i forgot to mention the pc is connected to the router via usb.

    open up a command prompt, type in "ipconfig /all" and press enter. instead of mac address tho, it will say physical address.

    do i need to do this for the usb connected desktop as well?

    yes. it will have a different mac address you know.

    Forget about mac filtering....Mac addresses can be spoofed very easily. The only people this type of security will keep out is Grandma and Grandpa down the street.

    My comment was more ment ironic, but thanks anyway for the link. I think i have read something similiar last year, don't remember.

    the mac filtering I ment was only allow laptop and desktop. the other mac filtering is to only stop the one laptop or pc is the one that you can get past by changing the mac address. but if its told only to allow laptop a and desktop a then it wont allow any other through simple as. only block laptop B could be passed because then you can change mac adress and get passed.

    Go to Nintendo Wi-Fi connection --> configuration --> option --> about console and you see your mac address.
    If you want to connect a ds remember to enable SSID transmission on the router.
