how to remove data completely

i am selling this old computer and buying a new one so how can i completely
remove the data from c drive

It depends on how important/dangerous datd are on your HD
1- if you think data is too sensetive > one solution only> destroy HD with hammer
2- if the data is just normal> Format is enough, I dont think people are interested to search in the darkness > they need tools > torch is not enough
3- active eraser free (demo version is enough)http://www.ntfs.com/products.htm
4- (this is the method I use, fast)if you can format in NTFS then FAT then NTFS then FAT. I found the file recovered after this process is illigible and useless.
