    Hi,

I have a friend who is a Hong Kong freedom fighter and she wants to keep her data safe from Chinese hackers.

Need to protect both her Windows 10 Home laptop as well as her iphone.

For the Windows system, I am thinking of BitDefender GavityZone because of it's strong heuristics, along with OSArmor to take care of fileless attacks.

I don't know anything about iphones. Since ipbones are popular in China, I think there would be plenty of exploits for it. So I need something(s) to take care of that.

    Any suggestions?

As far as cell phone use goes, do as criminals in the U.S. do; use "throw away" phones. These can't be traced to an individual.

I'll check if throw away phones are available in HK, thanks.

Come on guys, this is the time to be serious about security. We tinker with security here in the forum, but shy away from offering opinions when it counts?

Maybe a book or two on cyber security is what is needed?

There is no "One tip to INSTANTLY make your devices/your cyberactivities completly secure" and more people here are just concerned against regular hackers/crackers, ransomware or at most moderate abuse of power by local police officers (i.e. unauthorized search) in democratic country rather than a fight against nation-state hackers.
If I was a Freedom Fighter I would not like Chinese authorities to know I am Freedom Fighter, so I would invest in privacy, anonymity, defensive use of OSINT (open source intelligence) etc Certainly it is no an equal fight when against you there are government sponsored hacking group.
I don't read books that much, so I can't suggest any.

Not directly on point but may be useful

The U.S.-based advocacy group [Human Rights First] quickly published a Farsi-language version of its guide on how to delete digital history - that it had produced last year for activists in Hong Kong - and also put together a manual on how to evade biometrics..."

I am thinking of AlienVault OSSIM. I understand I can scan using the IoC collected and find out if someone is dwelling inside the network, is that correct ? Has anyone used this?
