I tried to delete the file entry on c:windows... and I get The following message: Tools like Everything, SAS Superdelite, ThyIsMyfile could not delete it too. Is there a way to remove the entry in Event Viewer?
Does right-clicking on that log offer you an option to Delete it? If not, I would try to use Unlocker.
Event Viewer does not give me a right click delete option. On C:Windows/sys32... the right click option is given but, though the file is not locked windows does not allow to delete. ThiIsMyFile is a good App similar to Unlocker. I'll try it and report.
Unlocker not supported by Windows 10. Lock Hunter did delete the file in C:windows/sys32... But the entry is still there on Event Viewer Applications Service Logs. The file came back on C:windows... after rebooting. Persistent little pest.
Unlocker works fine under Windows 10. It may not be officially supported, but that means nothing to me, because it works.
I had the same issue... I deleted all event viewer/Kaspersky entries from the registry, and from event viewer itself. Everythings happy now... Heres a link to the solution... http://www.jinweijie.com/windows/delete-event-log-manually/
Have you tried clearing the logs? https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16588-clear-all-event-logs-event-viewer-windows.html
@roger_m I should have specified that when trying to install Unlocker Windows did not let me go through with it. A message opened saying that the app is not verified, something like that. I did appreciate your input and suggestion , just that before trying to work out why Unlocker was not installing, I remembered Lock Hunter and I tried that. Edit: to be fair Unlocker was flagged as riskware from Hitmanpro and another On demand scanner, forgot which. An old man here forgive my tardiness.
Thanks. I used that system from that very same googled link just maybe half an hour earlier, did not work. But what you know, tried again after your post and it worked fine this time.
